CLAS is UC Santa Barbara's campus tutoring service, providing content-specific and fundamental tutoring services to UCSB students! At CLAS, learning is our middle name: we help students understand course concepts; we guide students in the learning process; we encourage students to become independent thinkers and lifelong learners.

In 1992, two distinct programs—the UCSB Tutorial Center and the Center for Academic Skills Enrichment—merged to form Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS). While it had become one department, it wasn’t until 2006 that the CLAS collective of instructional tutorial services and academic skills development moved under one roof: the third floor oceanside of the brand-new Student Resource Building (SRB). Today, the very same floor is where CLAS calls home, and the nearly 10,000 UCSB students who visit us annually call it home, too. CLAS was, is, and always will be a vibrant and ever-evolving community of learning that belongs to everyone.
